Jojo Turns One
Custom Collective #PetPortraits
Meet Jojo & his furry friends
From time to time, I free up my schedule to illustrate pet portraits that reflect the true personalities of furry companions. 'Jojo turns one' was one of the more extensive commissions I'd received for Jojo's birthday celebration. This meant not only to illustrate Jojo, but also, Bagel, Jazz, Bailey, Buddy, Champ, Elsa, Leo, Pepsi and Skai. All these adorable doggos recieved their individual portraits as party favours, while the collective portrait became the branding for the event. The event being Jojo's birthday, his human commissioned a special portrait for him.
Drawing Jojo
Drawing this little Bishon Frisé and getting all the details right was a really fun process for me. His human described him as a naughty, playful and mischievous doggo who loves his ball and lush green open spaces. You can read more about my process below.
Process
I started out illustrating pet portraits with the intention to create something meaningful for animal lovers. I like to bring out their personalities through these portraits by learning about their behaviour, their favourite toys, special moments and memories in order to be able to recreate some of that magic and capture it through a concept or idea. This is a passion project of mine that brings me a lot of joy and contentment, especially when I see people react to the final portrait and notice the details.
